The Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni has expressed his opinion about the rampant cases where Ugandans have been arrested and prosecuted for ‘Annoying the President’ saying he has no problems with being annoyed.
The president said this on Thursday at state house Nakasero as he briefed the nation on the progress of the operation wealth creation.
While reacting to the ongoing prosecution of researcher Dr Stella Nyanzi and Joseph Kabuleta of the case of annoying the person of the president, Museveni said he is used to being annoyed.
He however said that what he doesn’t like is propagation of hate speech. For starters, the president said he didn’t know that there was a law that punishes for annoyance kf the president, saying this is a law that was used during the colonial era that he only used to hear about.
“I don’t mind being annoyed. Annoying the president is a small issue, the bigger issue is about those that promote hate speech. These must be dealt with,” he said.
