Prophet Elvis Mbonye of Zoe Ministries on Tuesday launched an angry tirade towards president Museveni over his claims that religious men exploit their followers.
President Museveni had days before showed concern over what he called exploitation and fraud committed by pastors and religious men who take their flock’s money in the name of tithe and special prayers.
Prophet Elvis Mbonye was also irritated by the government’s stance of intending to subject all pastors and religious men to attending mandatory theological courses, with an aim of eliminating false preachers and prophets.
But while speaking to thousands of his believers gathered at KCCA grounds on Tuesday, Prophet Mbonye made his feelings known by rubbishing President Museveni’s comments before issuing what he called a ‘last warning ‘ to the fountain of honour.
The man of God, visibly angry with the president’s words said his followers are not being exploited or hoodwinked since they come by themselves without being forced or persuaded;
“My last message shall be a prophecy and that prophecy may not be predictable by now. Mr President, have you seen people that are being exploited gathered in rain by the thousands? How can people gather in rain by the thousands and you hear a lie that you are being exploited? What manner of rubbish is that?” Mbonye ranted.
He continued to ridicule plans by government to subject pastor to theological courses thus;
“If the state has plans to subject every belief to the Anglican setting and the catholic setting, whether we will listen to you or to God, you be the judge….If the state is going to determine who is a false prophet and who is not, who is going to heaven and who is going to hell…”
However the pastor’s retaliation drew mixed reactions, with some social media users siding with president Museveni while others wondered what warning Mbonye was actually sending to the president.
Pastor Elvis Mbonye, a man of God is mad at the president. Is God mad at the president as well?
