Singer Robert Sylvester Kelly’s woes seem to be far from over after he handed himself to police in Chicago and was charged with sexual abuse.
The global music star from the US has seem the reawakening of a case in which he is accused of performing sexual acts, molesting girls between the age of 13 and 16.
The singer had been acquitted of the same charges in 2008 but has been faced by repeated waves of protests and discontent against the star.
Cook County state attorneys led by Kim Foxx say they had to re awaken the charged after landing on fresh evidence including video footage of the R&B star molesting a 14 year old girl.
A no-bail arrest warrant was issued early Friday and Mr Kelly turned himself in to Chicago police on Friday night.
His lawyer says that his camp is devastated by the arrest and fresh charges but vowed to prove Kellys innocence.
Kelly has never convicted in the numerous times he has appeared in court on the same charges.
In the recent past, there have been popular protests against Kelly music with a trending social media hashtag #MuteKelly.
